LEATHER LEGGINGS
I knew this week was going to be a doozy and boy is it shaping up that way! That being said, this is going to be short and sweet! I wanted to tell you about leather leggings and why I think they can be one of the best wardrobe investments ever! The pair I am wearing are by J Brand. I promise you, they have been in my closet for over five or so years. Do you know what I reach for whenever I can’t decide what to wear? It’s these leggings! I have worn them to luncheons, date nights, and cocktail parties. They are probably the best investment I’ve ever made. They are so comfy and have held up great and have not stretched out. I’ve thrown tunics, longer jackets, long vests, silk and flannel shirts over these babies. I can wear them most of the year (except June-September in Texas) which is another reason I love them so much.
I paired them with an older Smythe jacket (I usually go up one size in this brand) and a longer velvet camisole from Target to cover my “you know what”. That’s the thing with any legging…wear something that covers “that” area. Just say NO to Camel Toe!!!
Woke up this morning to Who What Wear’s article on Over 50 Trendsetters that Have the Coolest Style. I am beyond humbled to be included in that list with some of MY fashion heroes. You can read it HERE.
Without getting into it and boring you with the details, we are trying to make a decision about moving my parents into an assisted living facility. My mom is in great shape, but my dad has some limitations now and it may be the best thing to do. I know a lot of you must have gone through this already. Does it get easier or better? It just breaks my heart!
Hope your Wednesday is a good one! Thank you for reading! xx

Believe it or not the assisted living decision may make everyone happier. If you choose the right place your mom will feel less isolated. We moved my dad last year and he is so happy to have other people around to do things with even though he really has no physical limitations at this point. It was a great move for our family.

It doesn’t get any better. It’s just a new stage in both of your lives. Once you come to that realization it’s a little better. My mom is 95 and healthy, but everyday is a new worry.
on a lighter note I need those leggings! I’ve been searching for some for about 4 months, and J brand keeps coming up. Guess I’m going to have to hunt some down.

Thanks for this post — it’s timely! I’ve been toying with buying leather (or faux leather) leggings for a long time, but haven’t had the courage. Now that more women are wearing them, they seem to have achieved classic status, which also helps. It also helps to be tall and slender like you are — but hey, I can work on that 🙂
Good luck with your parents. I struggled getting my mom into assisted living because we waited too long. It’s best to be proactive.

Love my leather pants but need to buy some leather leggings!
I moved my mother into assisted living and won’t lie to you… It’s the beginning of more things to come. It won’t be easy for any of you.

I love the leather leggings and the clutch is so cute. My parents are having more trouble taking care of themselves with each passing year. My dad is 87 and my mom is 80. They were blessed with a lot of children and we all work together the best we can to help them out. It is a difficult thing to watch them decline. Peace! Cheryl

Just found youre blog today. I have some very similar leggings and love them! You look great in yours!
What hit e is that at the end of the article, you talk about your parents. My husband and I are going through that same decision here in Dallas as well for his parents. His dad is 84 with Parkinsons and his mom is 80, but in great shape. We live down the street but its a lot of work. If you ended up with a recomendation on Active Living / Retirement homes in the DFW area, would love to hear on those!
I will be following youre blog!
